Deathly Chill

Welcome All!

If you know me and have had a chance to have your fortune told, you will know how accurate divining can actually be.

My special gift is being able to read people's energy patterns through things they touch. Alot of times, I use the change in their pockets.

If you are in Newfoundland, I encourage you to book a reading. It's quite fun to see what the spirits in your life have been aching to let you in on.

Why?

Alright!  I have just read a very biased review of a Bohemian deck of Tarot Cards......apparently there are! folks out there that believe paper wasn't invented until the 14th century, that Roma peoples copied Italian playing decks and used them to make money from fortune telling.  Gonna spit two words out : Egyptians    Papyrus.  Oh, and the modern day playing cards came from Tarot - not vice versa. It's almost as unbelievable as the British historian on you tube in charge of a Viking jewellery exhibit in London telling us that the Vikings had no real written language.  Hello!  Runic?  The basis for the English alphabet?  Invented by Odin....who was a part of creating the ancestors of the northern peoples...but you know that would be stuff a historian should know.

My rant for the day!

Well, as some Italian friends have pointed out, Tarot cards were ordered made by two ruling families in Milan in the 14th century (I have included a link). My point on this. Obviously Italian Roma introduced the concept of Tarot to Italy, word got around and of course the ruling families wanted custom made Tarot Decks of their own. Roma law forbids written documentation of their culture - this was initially to protect them.

There are also pre-Egyptian, pre-Indian civilizations like the Sumerians who were very advanced and showed interest in astrology and cartomacy before such labels were invented.

Runes were around even before the God Odin made some for his set, as he revealed in his poem Havamal. If Odin, Vile, and Ve created mankind after the Runes then fortune telling is to be accredited to the giants. But I think it's safe to credit the Roma and Sinti people's (Gypsies) with Tarot Cardsbin the way we think about and use them today.

Light of Consciousness Meet September

Numbers - a poem by me, Gipsie Lee

Not all the same are we

Some of us we’re not like you

Before, we lived for you to die

And now, in life we die, you see

For on the earth, we roam so lost

Our souls belong to Hel

A part of us is gone, you see

The sorrow very well,

We can try to uplift you

Try to help you understand

Show you what a human should be

Even try to lend a hand

But it never does erase

The past we had before

Once you are a reaper

It’s not something you ignore

So rise above the turmoil ants

Fight your wars, or live to flee

Hide amongst the street lights

For in the dark we'll be

I am not here to hurt you

I am merely here to kill

It is not quite beneath you

But at least I bear no ill.

Riding Emotional Storms

I wanted to write about the emotional turmoil I experience as a medium. The term is quite literal at times, and then there are times when there is no medium or middle ground but rather the overwhelming emotions of pain, fear, anger or frustration that come from other people - the living and the dead. When there is no logical reason for you feeling what you are feeling, consider what you are feeling may be an outside influence much akin to wind- just because you don't know where it comes from, just because you can't see it, doesn't mean it can't knock you down.

It can be unsettling. I do believe a lot of what artists mistake as depression is actually an intuitiveness that causes them to feel and think other's pain. Their empathy and intelligence can work against them when toyed with by those of uncontrollable emotional output. Jealous or envious fans/critics; inappropriate friend's and relatives criticisms: what most people are oblivious to, the gifted can be overwhelmed by.

Then there are spirits who decide to stay after a reading. All it takes is someone leaving something behind and that's it - you've got a new house ghost. I truly believe house ghosts communicate with each other as well. The longer a ghost resides in a house, the bolder they tend to get. My theory is if you have ghosts, make sure you have guests. Make certain as many people witness your invisible people as possible; that way they can't call you crazy.

Peace. Blessed be.

Working It Out Spread from The Dreamer's Tarot explained

The Dreamer's Tarot by Barbara Moore and Heidi Darras offers some interesting insight to people who are open to hear what they most likely will not expect. I never touch the cards while doing Tarot for people, because my energy is very strong.  I get each person to do the spread.  The left side is the card handler and the right the other person in their relationship; the bridging or adjoining cards in the middle explain how to connect the two personalities so that they can understand one another better.

The cards on the left are normally accepted as personality traits by the cardholder, the cards in the middle cause some pondering.  The cards on the right I wait to explain until after the other person gets a chance to do their card shuffling and layout.  Once again, this person usually agrees with the cards on the left.  After I read the bridging cards I explain the cards on the right.

This is how they see each other - not how the people see themselves.  It is by explaining how they see the other in relation to what is important to them as revealed by the cards, that the two begin to see from the eyes of one another and realize they may have been underestimating, under-appreciating, and misunderstanding one another"s intentions, feelings, and motivations.

The Cards Choose You

There are hundreds of different Tarot Cards out there on the market right now to choose from.  If you are new to the fortune telling thing, you may wonder what difference it makes what style deck you pick. Logically one could argue that the only difference from deck to deck is the pictures on the cards or the spreads in the accompanying books.  It's all made up anyway, some suggest.  Well, I am telling you that's wrong.

The cards themselves, as anyone who tries different decks soon realizes, have different "personalities." This is because the artist who made them put their energy into the cards.  Some do it intentionally; others transfer part of their own personality into the card design accidentally just by focusing upon what they are doing. You may notice certain pattern layouts have different undercurrents to their meanings. Some are bold and adventurous, while others serious and grim.

Your personality dictates what deck you buy.  Go with the one(s) you are instinctively drawn to.  For me, mt next three bucket list Tarot purchases will be: The Illuaminati Tarot by Casey Duhamel; Egyptian Tarot by Silvana Alasia; and the Mystic Faerie Tarot by Linda Ravenscroft.

Revenge is Sweet Grass

In Cape Breton we had a saying for people who started trouble with others just for the sake of being evil: digging your own grave.  Here in Newfoundland, I have heard many people say to others in anger they will end up in a ditch.

Well this is a spell for those who have these negative types of people in their lives and neighborhoods.  It isn't evil, it just magnifies the actions of those who are malicious in reverse, so they cause harm to themselves.  I have a soldier's mentality: I like to protect the good.

Remember the ingredients I asked you to pick up?
Stones
Branches
Old glass
Candles
Sage
Sweet grass
Quack grass
Thistle root
Flowers
Catnip
Pearly Everlasting
Playing Cards
Ribbon

Take your sage, grasses, branches and create little nests - one for each window if you can.
Tie a ribbon in the color of your choice around a deck of cards.
Place some small pieces of old glass inside the nests.
The flowers can be small bouquets, but must be placed where they greet you.
Make a bouquet of some of your house flowers mixed with the pearly everlasting to bring to work.
Stones need to be placed, carefully, at the edge of the negative persons property.
Clean and boil thistle roots. Feed the water to plants on the edge of your property, facing the road.
The pieces of thistle can be dried and hung in a small mesh sacs or put in compost.

With every step your enemies take to bury your efforts to get ahead,
The ground beneath will soften and their feet will feel like lead,
From your sleep your thoughts will loosen,
From their mind shall be their end
Spade in soft grassy earth
Raise a cup to feed the dead
Protected is the good one's hearth
Clubs or diamonds, cups of mead.

Now go and be successful!

The Root of the Problem

People have been eating potatoes for thousands of years.  There are other roots that are beneficial, nutrition-wise and medicinally as well. The roots of the cinquefoil plant are full of more vitamins than potatoes.  The roots of dandelions and chicory can be washed, chopped up into small pieces and brewed like coffee beans; dandelions restore natural sugar balances in the body; chicory aids in lowering blood pressure and internal inflammation. For fortune telling, roots can also be useful.

The burdock plant (most people associate it with the aggravating burr seed capsules that stick on their clothing) is useful for detecting love triangles.  Mix the juices from the root of this plant and that of a catnip plant to see who is truly in love with whom.  Catnip and burdock leaves are also great for making teas that restore the body's immune systems.  These plants are great to have around on sunny windowsills for their positive energy forces.

Lavender and purple clover are like the amethyst stones of the plant world.  The roots of these can be crushed and the juices strained from them to use in a spell that reveals where potential pools of opportunity abound.  They are also great to have growing alive in places where creating, producing, or selling take place as their scents add to clarity of the mind.

For hexing and determining motive's that are not pure, use the roots of the strawberry plant.  Strawberries are vitamin filled little berries.  Their leaves can be made into tea, but only fresh and dried, not wilted.  Wilted strawberry leaves contain a chemical that can interfere with the body's ability to clot blood.  The roots are short but they do hold juices that can be strained into a mixture to reveal the root of people's actions.

Young Souls Old

Sometimes our children are wiser than we. I asked aloud, "I wonder if the gods were drunk when they made the first platypus ?" My boy looked at me, shocked and replied "Mom, is your memory that bad? The animals were here first, remember? A cow woke up Buri from the ice block."

We were feeding seagulls and attempting to feed ravens when my boy coaxed three little ravens over. He whispered to them "Mimir Mimin" and the birds turned about quite quickly. Then he said to me, "I bet Huginn and Muninn taught them about Mimir. Can you imagine how smart Odin's ravens are after all these years? I bet they know every language on Earth. "

Today we discovered two more badly weathered rocks with Runic inscriptions upon them along a lake called The Pond by locals, or Trout River Pond by Parks Canada. I wished aloud I could know every language in the world. "I guess you should ask the Ravens then, duh?" my grandson told me.

Karma and the Witch

I just wanted people to think about Karma for a moment. I used to envision people's vehicles breaking down whenever I was upset with them, thinking nothing could happen to me because I didn't have a vehicle  of my own. When I did get a car, however it was constantly needing to be fixed.

Sometimes Karma works differently. For example I don't slander people. I have kept my mouth shut recently because of needing to keep my job when my conscience screamed from inside that was wrong, what a fellow employ did in lying about someone else. Now that employee is lying about me. So I need to not worry about clearing my own name but the name of the one first sullied by my silence.

Now some very evil, manipulative people seem to get away with things they truly shouldn't. Don't fret over this. It is when they least expect it that Karma will strike, like a Cobra in the dark. Be the good force that acts as a catalyst for good things to happen to good people and bad thing to happen to bad people.

Is witchcraft evil? Absolutely no! Can you harm someone with witchcraft? Absolutely yes! Can you help people with witch craft? Absolutely yes!  Should you? Who am I to say?  Is it wrong to say nothing to abominable people when you know death or disaster is at their door? No, because that would interfere with Karma.

Seedlings by me, Gipsie Lee

We are made from trees,       So it shouldn't be                So hard to see                    That we are seeds

Like small twisting flags,     Like horns upon a stag,  They call us hag;                   Silk they call rag.

Our earth mother smiles    Our sun father whiles         We roam for miles             Then fit like tiles.

Our place on the floor,         We create a green door    Gifts not a chore                 Life to explore.

Simple Water Spell

Ingredients

Large black ceramic bowl
Dried mint leaves
Tablespoon of beach sand
Piece of unlined white or beige paper
A pen
Moonlight
Sunshine

This spell should be done in the evening under the light of the moon, but you might wish to practice writing in Runic prior to setting it up. You can do it in English or whatever other language you normally use but, please use your left hand to write things down if you are right handed and right hand if you are left handed.

Take your bowl outside and pour gently into it a pitcher of water until it is half full.
Staring at the moon, sprinkle the grains of sand over the water surface.
Gently sprinkle a pinch of dried, crushed mint leaves onto the water's surface in a swirling motion.
Set the water where the moonlight can shine into it where it won't get bumped.
Take out your pen and paper.

Write:
I am looking for a clue
A mirror in the seas
For time is merely water
Reflecting back at me

Take your note, whisper gently "Thank You" across it and lie, it writing down, onto the water's surface.
Leave overnight.
In the morning, place the paper carefully in the sunlight to dry, careful not to tear the paper.
Leave until dusk.

Take the water from the bowl and offer it to your closest thirsting plant.
At dusk take the paper and examine the images upon it.
If you like take a pic and send the image to me to decipher.
Goodluck.
Have fun!

(collected rain water works best)

The Dilemma Spread (explained with caution)

Thanks to A. Bronwyn Llewellyn and Cynthia Von Buhler finding the root behind a perplexing dilemma is easy! The Shakespeare Oracle - Let The Bard Predict Your Future is very crafty at stating what's going on.

The engaged couple from the previous card reading could have pressed for more information. This spread reveals the reasons why these two have come to be in such a predicament. Not purely evil or purely good, each comes to the table with parental and past relationship drama that coloured the way they see people in their lives.  The root cause of future problems lies in the woman's false pretenses that she is helpless and needs a knight to rescue her. He is more than willing to play this role, though his reasons are not completely altruistic. The chalice - symbol of their union is one which will be forced, not true, but the lie cannot be undone.

The Fortune Teller's best bet is to say things delicately and without too much explanation. He suffered great loss as a child. Her parents stressed about security. A close friend will remain no matter what. People will toast to their union.

When the Cards Reveal Too Much

Often when couple's come to see a fortune teller, they are there to see if their relationship is going to work out. These words may not be spoken aloud, but the cards reveal such fear and doubt nonetheless. If you are a fortune teller you may find yourself playing marriage counsellor. Remember, it is not up to you if they last, drift or split apart; your job is to relay the messages in front of you. This can be difficult, especially if you personally know the couple, realize from the cards that one has been faithful and the other not, or if one is truly uninterested in the other outside material gain.

This spread for example reveals a dual nature in the man and calculating coldness in the woman. There are doubts on both sides, and secrets as well...some that threaten to expose themselves if action isn't taken. It indicates what has been planned will go ahead as planned but marriage is not the secret answer for either, though it will happen. The card that refuses to be part of this?

So, what to say to the couple?  This is most definitely not a union that will create happiness.  The 3 of Sceptres offers the advice both should be following, "To thine own self be true" from Hamlet. Look at the center cards.  "To be or not to be, that is the question?" from Hamlet. "Screw your courage to the sticking-place and we'll not fail" from Macbeth.  This an ominously toned card - both parties involved are in actual danger.  The top, "Delays have dangerous ends" from Henry VI.

I would go with: "You both are having second thoughts because of people from your past.  Money and legal issues are pressing; you must not ignore them. (to the man) A young woman you used to know is having a baby.  (to the woman) Your desire has become fruitful but some treasures are best kept secret.  I see a beautiful ceremony, planned out in perfection, enacted just as it was imagined, and with relief.

Green and Red Silverweed

I thought I discovered a new species! A hybrid between a strawberry and a buttercup plant. It thrived along Newfoundland roads amongst the gravel like a strawberry, with its long red extenders linking plant to plant. Bright, shiny, waxy buttercup flowers beamed up from frothy leafs. But alas! While it most likely is the result of cross species pollination, it has existed for hundreds of years. It's like biscotti all over again.

The roots of my discovery were boiled, dried and used by Aboriginal North American tribes as a medicine plant or winter food, this plant is now called Cinquefoil or Silverweed, (not to be confused with Shrubby Cinquefoil which was typically a source for tea.) It yields a high amount of vitamins and minerals, despite my fear it might be poisonous, given the buttercup contains toxins, which eaten in large quantities can be fatal. Leaves, and flowers were not used.

Today, there are commercial versions of strawberry tea. It is important to remember that wilted strawberry leaves contain a chemical that can interfere with your blood's ability to clot. Only use fresh leaves when making home brewed tea.

Lion's Teeth

Dandelions or dents de lions "lion's teeth" are considered lawn pests in most neighborhoods. Their brilliant yellow flowers and saw tooth leaves areusually mowed down. But these are a very useful plant. They are a tad bitter, but loaded with nutrients. You can basically eat any part of them.

The leaves and stems of the cinquefoil plant are full of calcium. The flowers have a long lasting, pleasant aroma, and they are considered protective "omen" plants.  In fact, keeping these bright little shrubs along your borders is said to increase productivity within.

This evening I will be trying a blend of cinquefoil, dandelion, and bunchberry leaf tea. The bark of the cinquefoil and the roots of the latter two  can also be made into a coffee type of drink. Dandelion roots help stabilize blood sugar; while, cinquefoil and bunchberry  can lower a fever and bunchberries (fully ripe and cooked) can reduce pain.

So what prophetic properties do they possess? Stay tuned to find out!

Tisane by Tzigane

Tea is nowadays more than just carefully selected and dried tea leaves from the Tea Tree. There are combinations of herbs used as both infusions and bases for modern teas. Those name tisane are "herbal tea" which is very close to the word Tzigane (meaning gypsy).

For this reading I have used packaged teas. The red cup has Orange Pekoe Tetley Tea. The white cup has yummy Tim Horton's Apple Cinnamon. The blue cup holds the more serious Lupton green tea Mandarin Orange. They vary in consistency as well as flavour and the amount of leaves that end up in the cup. Mind you I have used different sized cups, so this is not scientifically done lol.

Tetley : from these I see a powerful Shaman influencing a familiar world leader who is known for choosing ponies over horses. Taurus is in play. I also see a new playmate for my dog Blue; a puppy who resembles a badger by its markings. It hints of plans in embyonic phases.  The same emptied cup reveals the egg will Crack! Hel is influencing an African leader who is associated with Christianity (the Lamb of God) with her charms, while little devils fill up the sky.  To me, this sounds like war will begin over an African nation but one that is involving a Duke of another empire. There is the "royal heartbreak" symbol, as well.

The Tim Horton's tea, which is ironically not in the Tim's cup reveals growth and excitement.  Japanese spirits are present in this tea, which also highlights surprise and anguish, new world trading partners, bloodshed and strong female leadership. Australia is central.

The Lipton Tea is about Australia as well, but also England. A torch has been handed to a young god-figure who takes the pawns and rook and flees to another part of what is left of a divided country to make pillars. A babe just now only conceived stands to inherit a great deal when born. Texas, USA along with Africa's Ivory Coast are interconnected. There is flag waving and celebrating, pow wows and courting.

Gaming Fortune

Coin reading is a quick reel of images.  Alot of people tend to have their favourite food come up during their reading. Video gamers will have plots and characters.  It will throw you.  It is a very intense and complex slew of images that really may not make any sense, unless of course, you play video games.  For gamer's fortunes, I have an expert - my son.  I read one boy's fortune and wrote down place names, people's names, vehicle descriptions and he was utterly perplexed.  He didn't know these people.  He didn't own a car.  But the images had been so vivid, I didn't know how I could have been wrong.  I told my boy.  He laughed and said GTA.  Ask him if he plays Grand Theft Auto, my son advised.  He showed me a map he had for the game.  Sure enough, the place names were there.  The people's names?  Oh, they aren't from GTA, he replied.  He must also play Call of Duty.  I asked the young man, the next time I saw him, if the names or vehicles were from games he played and he suddenly got very animated.  "Yes! Oh man, I didn't even think of that.  I scored an amazing car the other day...."I've read fortunes of people who bought actual vehicles whose images for that vehicle were not half as strong as this teen's for his game car, but then again his was an WICKED AMAZING sports car with custom EVERYTHING!

Using Candles To Snuff Out Negativity Spots

First, make a circle of small pebbles in the middle of your kitchen table.  In the center of that circle I want you to place a blue dish full of water.  Next, take your candles and light them only in the corners of the room, five at time.  Little tea candles are fine.  Watch for the movement of the flames.  If the flames come towards you, in a certain corner, that is where the negative energy is settled.  You need to place your positive symbols here.

Birds, particularly ravens, are symbols of wisdom and patience. They must be accompanied by trees, so place a plant, indoor tree, photo, painting or drawing of a tree there.  Ravens love the colour blue, so be sure to place a blue pillow, bouquet of blue flowers, a blue curtain, or even some blue mugs near the raven images.  Watch your flame reactions.

Flames pulling towards you in another corner?  Remove any dark range or red.  Draw some runic symbols onto some fabric and hang it along the wall.  If you have sunlight shining in that corner, place a cactus plant there.  Take a vase or interesting glass jar and fill it with uncrushed coffee beans of your favourite aroma.

Smoky quartz and rose quartz are supposed to appease spirits and allow for positive energy to flow. Do not put these together, however.  Instead, make little piles of rose quartz along window ledges or mantles where their cheery colour will be seen.  Take the smoky quartz and place these near the base of your candles. In the direction that they flicker, make certain to  place a token of a cat.  Ancient cats hold more power.

Incorporating a painting with pinks, yellows, soft greens and blues; setting a vase of brightly coloured flowers on a table or setting a brightly patterned quilt over a chair can dispell worry wells.  Place your deck of cards, a favourite book or photo album in this corner.  You should feel comfort when you step in this area.

Now test what you have done with a candle!

Circles

In coin reading, you can get a glimpse of how interconnected people truly are. For instance, in the reading below - out of respect for the celebrity involved and the royal couple, I will not specify places or names - a queens's indecision over vacation destinations leads them to the same place as a celebrity who has been inspired to use their influence to do good.

The coins also show a father who had twin girls but was never involved in their lives. These girls are about to attend a global conference hosted by a banking association. It shows an intention of good turned upside down. Four pillars of strength will be attending this conference as well.

Again, out of confidentiality respect, I can only say that they are two men and two women of authoritarian positions, one of which truly grasps the concept of democracy even though he wears a monarch's title. We have an invitation by this intelligent leader for two representatives of aboriginal communities - one in Canada and one in the US - to also join the conference so they may be introduced to a network of global leaders.

One very important leader will not be included. However, because of a relative I have not known until now, they will get a chance to become involved, not with the banker's agenda but with the worthier cause.

The Circle will be addressing the issues that undermine the Earth's stewards and their needs for survival: respect, communication, connection, understanding, family, a living earth, clean water, breathable air, sunlight, food.  They are all humanity's needs; it's just that some races have grown disconnected from their purpose, their place, their past.

Ophiuchus!

Have you ever had your fortune told from a circular layout of twelve cards? This is comonly referred to as the zodiac read spread. I have my clients pull thirteen cards from the deck for this read. Why? We have been ignoring the thirteenth zodiac, Ophiuchus for hundreds of years and it throws things off that normally work. Why? Fear of 13 it would seem. Situated between Scorpio and Sagittarius is this secret constellation "and the Sun spends more time crossing this constellation than it does traversing it's neighbour Scorpio." - according to the bold scientists Carole Stott and Giles Sparrow who chose to tell it as it is in their StarFinder:The Complete Beginner's Guide To The Night Sky.

I chose an adorable Spanish deck for illustration here by Heraclio Fournier which come in a deck of 40 cartas - because they stop at 7 and continue at 10, without any major Arcana. Why no eights or nines? I will leave that mystery with you.

Soul

A soul is like an aching wind,
It slips beneath the door,
Its needs are never plain to see,
But longing, how they roar.

A soul forever lost will be,
If searching doesn't find,
Death and life both pointless,
A heart that's left behind.

By me, Gipsie

A Few Brave Coins

Death. Copper. What do the two have in common? Well, in fortune telling, I use copper coins to designate messages from the dead to the living. Why copper? That's a Wiccan thing I touch upon in another penny coin related topic. The more copper coins in your reading, the more non-living input you get. Sounds creepy? It gets worse!

Some folks ask to have a "death throw" done. This will tell them how many funerals they can look forward to attending. If they've pissed off any relatives before they died, or afterwards with their actions, it will come up. Some "dead" coins don't even accept the are dead. They have such a strong energy force that they actually influence the decisions of the living from beyond the grave.

Have you been noticing or finding pennies lately? Sometimes spirits can't wait for their loved ones to make an appointment with a medium, so they try to get their point across in these ways: cold- death or illness, warmth -fond memories, static shock - arguments, rolling - finding through a journey, disappearing- pay attention, clues are about!

Wiccan Witch

I just wanted to share a little blip about Wicca.  You don't have to be out there casting spells on people, or building candlelit shrines to Celtic deities, partaking in covens or witch gatherings (although some gatherings can be quite fun).  Basically, to be Wiccan is to understand that there is life force in things that perhaps you did not consider to be of equal living value with yourself as a human being.  So in Wicca, we believe that all living creatures have an equal right to live, to have homes, communities, families.  What you wouldn't do to your friend Marybeth's four year old son, you wouldn't do to a baby seal, baby bear, baby moose, etc.

Now, I love my cat and she eats mice and birds and I have no problem with that.  I have no problem with humans that hunt for food either.  Some people are inclined to be hunters.  It's just senseless destruction of territories, murdering animals for pleasure, polluting the environment out of laziness, and teaching those bad habits to the next generation that drives me mad.

What I wanted people to know, is how positive being a Wiccan can be.  First of all, your whole philosophy of life changes. (Was raised a Christian, but never got confirmed because my mother and grandmother couldn't understand why people were worshipping a god that would throw a child in a lake of fire for not swearing allegiance to them.  They were Celts.  I am so glad they were Celts).
My place is special in this world as a human, not because I am the master of every other creature, but because I have enough intelligence to act as a positive catalyst.

I can cut fruit in half and take the seeds or pits out and plant them so that more fruit trees grow more quickly.  I can gather grass plants and spread them out where the ground has been trampled down, so livestock can graze.  I can plant flowers for my own enjoyment that benefit bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, bluejays.  If my vegetables are being eaten by insects, I can introduce some ladybugs to the crop to eat them.  I can build barns to shield my sheep, horses, cows and goats from the harsh winter winds.  I can share my food with pets and wild animals alike.

I can use my intelligence to create ways to harness the wind and sun for energy.  I can choose what I have and what I save and use it to make things more productive.  I can be unbiased and kind when others have been brainwashed by their religions to make them hate one another. I can act, not out of fear of "Sin" (who was actually the son of a King way back when, the Jews and Romans didn't like) or "Hell" (who spells her name with only one l)

My god is the Allfather, Odin.  My people were created from trees, not clay. My duty is to learn as much as I can about as much as I can; to strive to be the absolute best I can be both physically and mentally; to create and share what I have created; and to write, so others can reflect on things I have done, pondered or said.

Gipsie's Tarot Deck Review - Playing Cards

Can you do impromptu card readings with regular playing cards? Yes! The following is an example of a past, present, future layout using the Molson Canadian Light players deck. Remember that the hearts equal Cups, diamonds equal Swords, spades equal Pentacles and clubs equal Wands (in some regular Tarot decks the clubs are often somewhere on the Wands cards). So this layout reveals :

Past-  a kind hearted, generous soul who loves company, merged with thieving, conniving cheat, but the truth of her deceit and treachery were revealed and a new source of comfort and hope emerged.
Present - wealth is on the horizon from intelligent planning, advice from a mentor/motivator is offered freely, the kind hearted soul has become more guarded, less trusting but still wise and prudent, and a stalemate has occurred about an important matter that's being dealt with emotionally rather than logically.
Future- one gifted with a natural ability to organize and inspire others is warned of a trap that could have brought physical harm. Someone must travel very far. A decision is made. Sides are drawn and as a result of those sides chosen no more will the generous soul help those who ask him for it.

Gypsie's Tarot Card Review: Vibrational Energy Oracle Cards

Vibrational Energy Oracle Cards come to us from Debbie A. Anderson, with artwork by Heather Brewster. I must say, the art is phenomena; the cards have really dramatic, eye catching imagery. The messages are very positive and uplifting; people usually come to us mediums when in turmoil or doubt.

There is only one card layout presented in the accompanying manual, which looks fine on paper but is quite physically expansive on an actual table. I broke this down into three separate layouts for practical purposes:, "Past, Present, Future" top three cards; "Five Dimensions" middle 5 vertical cards; and "Mind, You/Body, Soul" lower three cards.

If you are used to Tarot decks, these are going to be quite the change for you. Aside from the fact that there are no divisions of suits or numerical importance, there is also a lack of reverse meaning. I realize it is intended to focus on only positivity. But give them a whirl. They are very interesting.

Gipsie's Tarot Card Deck Review:The Tarot Cards I Destroyed

I've been reviewing Tarot decks lately, so before I go on to describe my newest pack I will show you three extremely accurate, albeit terrifyingly so, decks I destroyed in the past. Regrettably, I buried my Italian tarrochi after my mother died. It was under the influence of several friends who believed such things were "the Devils work". The cards foretold of several relatives dying, impending relationship drama, travelling to places, losing wealth and emotional posessions - it all came true, no matter that I'd ruined the cards.

Two years later I came into the posession of the Marseilles Deck of Tarot. My friends and I had gone to a Medium, who asked why I parted with my cards. When I said I simply didn't do fortune telling, she responded "Because you need some cards!" and gave them to me. They were very blunt, the Marseilles cards; they knew they didn't have much time. My already grieving mind was bombarded with images of more death, and even more negative downturns in my life. I set them afire to prove them wrong. Five funerals later they proved I had been disrespectful of the spirits.

The Rider- Waite Deck  I purchased many years later, for I refused to delve into divining for a long time. These I had a hard time with. I struggled to get a sense of what was trying to be conveyed. It wasn't until my grandson found them and asked me what they meant, four years later, that I sensed any magic in the deck. He quickly disposed of the death card in my mop bucket.
I found this amusing and liberating...I was now free to do Tarot without Death. But these cards met with a different sort of ending...they burned because they were still unpacked in the trunk of my Cavalier when it burned.

Care to Decipher?

I found this rock while roaming the beach that surrounds The Pond, in Trout River, Newfoundland.  It is quite large.  The writing below, on the left is an Irish version of runic and on the right of that is your Futhark version of runic. Time has done some gouging on the stone as well, but I believe this is proof of Vikings exploring Trout River.  (In the journals I have read by Eric the Red, it was common for Norsemen to stop in Ireland for pretty girls who had the inclination for adventure)

So which do you think it holds?

Gipsie's Tarot Card Deck Review: The Dreamer's Tarot

My deck used most often (and one I had to buy twice because my grandson tore up the Death Card) in Fortune Telling is the The Dreamer's Tarot by Heidi Darras and Barbara Moore. The have a wonderful assortment of interesting card layouts that prove highly sensitive and yet totally objective. (They do seem to allow the spirits to convey their frustration with folks who look down on the mystic arts, I warn you) Pictured here is the "What to Do Spread" which gives a an artistic past, present, future scenario to your actions. Also pictured is a spread that is great for couples because it reveals their true take on problems and offers bridging communication tips: "Working It Out Spread". The accompanying book "The Dreamer's Journal" encourages fortune tellers and their clients to keep track of their dreams. I just would add a further note to that: always describe your dreams aloud because, like Tarot Cards, they are often metaphors.

Gipsie's Tarot Deck Review - The Shakespeare Oracle

Hi folks and fellow fortune tellers. One of my favourite Tarot decks is the Shakespeare Oracle by A. Bronwyn Llewellyn (paintings by Cynthia Von Buhler). The pen is mighty than the sword, so Quills replace the swords Arcana; Sceptres are equivalent to Wands; Coins represent Pentacles; and Chalices take the place of Cups. The Major Arcana are represented by major characters in Shakespeare's plays.

From the interesting card layouts, to the clever interpretations, and unique hand painted cards that feel like thin chalkboard instead of paper, this literary deck will entertain and evoke a desire to read more into Shakespeare's dramas. So, "Let the Bard Predict Your Future". Thanks Fair Winds Publishing for this one.
